Blessed with an extraordinary sense of melody and groove, he is, in fact, the creator of iconic bass lines that have become timeless classics for artists such as James Taylor, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Phil Collins, and so many others. For decades, he played a highly customized Fender Precision Bass, aptly nicknamed “Frankenstein.”

Built using traditional luthier techniques (alder body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 34" scale), the Lee Sklar Precision Bass stands out for its raw finish (the artist himself completely stripped the bass), marked by countless years of worldwide touring and recording, the traces of which cover the entire surface of the instrument.

It is equipped with a pair of EMG® Active Lee Sklar P pickups that produce clear and dynamic tones, a Hipshot® BT3 Bass Xtender system that allows you to extend the low-frequency range in the blink of an eye, and a Badass™ II bridge for optimal sustain and intonation.

The original neck profile has been modified to resemble the more playable profile of a Jazz Bass. The nut width is 40.4 mm. The radius is a strictly vintage 7.25".
One final unique feature of the Fender Lee Sklar Precision Bass is that the 20 frets are mandolin frets! They give the instrument an incredibly smooth and pleasant playing feel.
