The Fred's Lab Manatee is a 4-part synthesizer module with up to 16 voices and various synthesis algorithms.

The Manatee is designed to offer flexible sound design options, all in a compact but comfortable to use package. The heart of the Manatee is its spectral synthesis engine, which combines elements of additive and wavetable synthesis. This approach allows for detailed control over sound shaping, starting from the tonal level.

In addition to the spectral engine, the Manatee includes virtual analog synthesis, waveform and 2-operator FM algorithms. These algorithms can be used independently or in addition to the spectral oscillator.

Each voice consists of 2 oscillators, an advanced noise and ring modulator, a multi-mode resonant filter (with 12 and 24 dB/octave options and an additional RC section), a saturator, 2 meta envelopes, a custom LFO, and a modulation matrix. Modulation sources can be routed to various parameters, and their intensity can be controlled via MIDI CC, aftertouch, or other expressions.

Each of the 4 parts is equipped with a spectral generator, 2 custom LFOs, a stereo delay, and 2 adjustable stereo EQs. The module also includes a master reverb with multiple models, including hall, plate, and room reverbs, providing additional flexibility for mixing.

The Manatee is a versatile tool for those who want precise control over sound design and modulation in both experimental and more traditional contexts. It supports full MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), allowing for enhanced expression during performance.
