At TAMA, our product team works tirelessly and is fully committed to developing direct-drive bass drum pedals. Direct-drive pedals offer a unique advantage: immediate power transfer and accelerated beater movement. However, our product team identified an opportunity to design a direct-drive pedal that strikes a balance and achieves perfect harmony among three essential elements of performance: power, speed, and feel.

We identified three essential components in the design: the direct-drive linkage, the drive cam, and the connection angle between the drive system and the pedal plate. We worked closely with a group of TAMA artists representing a wide variety of styles to better understand what top-level drummers expect and look for in a direct-drive pedal. Constant dialogue between our product team and the artists allowed us to precisely master the most subtle mechanical interactions as well as the various angular alignments. This work ultimately led to the development of a design capable of resolving the issues of feel and power that we believe are inherent in certain other direct-drive pedals. We’ve named this mechanical design the “Dynamic Synchronization System.”

TAMA’s Dyna-Sync pedal establishes a new balance between power, speed, and feel in the world of direct-drive pedals, while challenging the conventional wisdom associated with this type of drive system. We are thrilled to offer drummers of all styles and skill levels the opportunity to explore a wide range of settings to discover unique and distinctive playing sensations with a direct-drive pedal.
