Tascam Portacapture X8

The Portacapture X8 is a portable digital recorder.


Immediately after powering up, the Portacapture X8's large colour touchscreen displays the Launcher, which allows you to easily select the most suitable audio settings for your application. The time saved by using these presets allows you to concentrate more on the recording itself, without having to engage in complicated set-up.
MANUAL - This is the main app, allowing multi-track recording of up to six audio sources, plus a stereo mix (2-mix).
VOICE - This recording app is ideal for interviews, dictations and meetings.
PODCAST - This app is suitable for producing podcasts with up to four speakers.
MUSIC - Choose this app for voice and instrument recording.
FIELD - This app is ideal for recording natural sounds outdoors.
ASMR - The visual effect of the screen changes depending on the input sound.
The Portacapture X8 features a pre-set level setting, allowing for a wide dynamic range through the use of two high-end A/D converters and a 32-bit floating point recording engine. The result is uncompromising audio quality, even on recordings made at low levels. When editing the audio data later, you can increase the level without deteriorating the signal-to-noise ratio (A/N). In addition, the built-in Normalize function allows the level of the stereo mix file to be aligned to 0 dB FS after recording.
The Portacapture X8 allows the streaming of up to 8 tracks (6 inputs + stereo mix) via USB. Compatible with the USB Type-C power specification, the unit can supply any external microphone with 48 volts phantom power via the USB bus. In video or audio conferences, you can use the Portacapture X8 as a USB stereo microphone, and even record audio simultaneously.
The Portacapture X8 comes with two high quality condenser microphones, each 14.6 mm in diameter - the largest in our range. Thanks to a detachable mechanism, the left (L) and right (R) microphones can be flexibly attached to and detached from the unit to form AB or XY pairs.

Combined with the dual A/D converter, 32-bit floating point audio processing and a sampling rate of up to 192 kHz, these microphones capture all sounds, from the faintest whisper to the loudest performance.
The Portacapture X8 can be remotely controlled via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets (iPad or Android) using the optional AK-BT1 Bluetooth adapter and the Portacapture Control app, which can be downloaded free from the Apple Store or Google Play.
The Portacapture X8 allows the simultaneous recording of up to 8 audio tracks in total (6 separate tracks + stereo mix). You can choose which inputs to record to which tracks, apply noise gate, compressor, EQ and reverb, just like on a mixing console
