This is not your average '76...
The Black Lion Seventeen could have been just a classic '76 compressor, but it goes much further. With a redesigned and improved IC input circuit, the Seventeen reveals details and subtleties that were thought impossible to obtain in a '76-style compressor, while offering new features compared to the original models.
What sets the Seventeen apart?
First, its innovative input circuit, based on a unique integrated circuit, not found in traditional '76 compressors. This design delivers a clean and punchy sound for light compression, while offering a rich and colorful vintage tone when the gain is pushed. This circuit, combined with the Black Lion custom output transformer, produces deep and rich bass, perfectly balanced with bright highs. The Seventeen thus offers a much wider tonal range than classic '76 compressors.
The Seventeen also benefits from Black Lion’s signature power decoupling, which provides remarkably low noise. The use of high-end Nichicon capacitors, renowned for their quality, also helps to reduce this noise.
Black Lion didn’t want to stop there…
Among its many features, we find a sidechain with adjustable frequency, as well as a wet/dry mix button for parallel compression. The Seventeen offers an incomparable sonic palette and includes a practical stereo link function.
Of course, the Seventeen can also be used in “all-buttons in” mode, ideal for boosting your ambiences or bringing a striking presence to your vocals in parallel. We have also simplified the simultaneous activation of the different ratios, much easier to handle than on classic models.
