Earthquaker devices Scrolls Bass Odyssey (Overdrive / EQ)
Developed in collaboration with Japanese bassist Kentaro Nakao, the EARTHQUAKER DEVICES Scrolls Bass Odyssey pedal is a powerful professional-grade tool combining tube-amp-style saturation and active EQ circuits.
Equipped with intelligent connectors (three separate outputs) for flexible signal routing, and analog filtering on the balanced output to faithfully simulate the grain of a cabinet, you can use the Scrolls in any situation: live, in the studio, as a complement to your rig or directly on a console.
The left-hand section of the pedal features audiophile-grade three-band EQ. The Scrolls' secret weapon is the "Variable Frequency" control, which adjusts each frequency from 20 Hz to 10 kHz.
Three push-buttons add filtering capabilities for optimum flexibility.
The right-hand side of the effect is reserved for saturation. Settings are both comprehensive and intuitive. As with all quality bass processors, a "Blend" potentiometer lets you adjust the level of the direct signal present in the saturated signal, for maximum definition and bass presence in all circumstances.
The "Bandwidth" potentiometer lets you determine in which zone of the frequency band clipping will be prevalent (bass on the left, treble on the right).
All three outputs can be operated simultaneously.
- the buffered parallel output redirects the direct signal to an amp, tuner, DI or other effect
- the balanced XLR output can be used to drive a PA system or recording console
- an effects loop installed between the EQ and drive sections lets you insert modulation, temporal or other effects
Efficient controls allow you to sculpt your sound in any musical register, from Motown to modern metal, blues, garage rock or funk.
