The Fender Telecaster Thinline is a semi-hollow-body version of the original Telecaster, designed by German luthier Roger Rossmeisl in the late 1960s and put into production in 1969.
Available in various configurations (mahogany or ash body, single-coil pickup or humbucking pickup), it stands out visually with its F-hole and acoustically with its natural resonance. The 1972 Telecaster Thinline is equipped with Wide Range Humbucker pickups developed by Seth Lover.
Depending on the configuration, it is perfectly suited to musical styles ranging from country to blues, pop, rock ’n’ roll/rockabilly, and funk, all the way to blues-rock, indie rock, and hard rock.
Among its famous users are Curtis Mayfield, Buck Owens, Bill Frisell, and Thom Yorke (Radiohead).

This FENDER Custom Shop Artisan Dual P90 Maple Burl Tele NOS (9235001553) is a splendid reinterpretation of the 1969 Telecaster Thinline, perfectly combining a majority of strictly vintage features with more contemporary elements.
Its craftsmanship (assembly, fretting, finishes) is absolutely flawless, as is the selection of its components: a Michigan mahogany body, a bolt-on neck made of 3A flamed maple (1960 Oval C profile), a rosewood fingerboard (21 narrow-tall frets, 9.5/12" hybrid radius), and Fender Custom Shop P90 single-coil pickup.
The mahogany body and P90 pickups emphasize the midrange, producing rich, full-bodied tones without compromising the openness and airiness that are the Thinline’s hallmark.

In addition to giving the wood an elegant patina, the kiln-drying process improves the instrument’s stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance, while protecting it from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and mold.
