At the heart of the strip lies a mic preamp derived from the SSL 4000 E series, equipped with a Jensen JT-115K-E transformer, known for its ability to deliver clarity, warmth, and natural harmonic saturation. It’s a bold and musical front-end, offering subtle color that perfectly complements both modern and vintage productions.
Classic 4000 series De-Esser and Dynamics: tonal control with character.
Inspired by the SSL 4000 B, the onboard De-Esser provides precise control over sibilant frequencies without compromising the clarity or texture of the vocal performance.
The complete dynamics section from the 4000 E features a musical compressor/limiter and an effective expander/gate, with intuitive controls to shape transients and give presence to any source in the mix.
A legendary 4-band EQ.
A cornerstone of the SSL sound, the 4-band equalizer in this strip combines the aggressive punch of the Black Knob version with the smooth musicality of the Brown Knob, offering maximum flexibility whether you’re boosting a snare, carving out a synth, or adding air to a vocal.
High-pass and low-pass filters round out the section, providing surgical removal of unwanted frequencies.
