Thorpyfx Kudu Overdrive

Manufactured in England using high-performance components, the THORPYFX Kudu Overdrive was designed in collaboration with Dan Coggins, founder of the Lovetone pedal brand.
Although it can be used on its own, the Kudu has been optimized for “gain stacking”—a technique that involves combining multiple overdrive pedals to achieve complex and unique tones.

When used on its own, the ThorpyFX Kudu already demonstrates excellent flexibility, ranging from subtle harmonic enrichment to a generous mid-gain overdrive. Like most other ThorpyFX distortion pedals, it faithfully reproduces the nuances of the musician’s playing and the variations in the intensity of their attack, as well as the adjustments made to the guitar’s volume knob.
But it’s when paired with other pedals or your amp’s overdrive channel that the Kudu truly reveals its full potential. It will enhance the clarity of an overdrive, thicken a distortion, and enrich your amp’s harmonic spectrum (especially if it’s powered by tubes) while maintaining optimal definition.

The Kudu features a highly effective three-position clipping circuit (Soft, Hard, Extra Soft) that alters the behavior of the overdrive.
Each setting produces different levels of compression, gain, and harmonic complexity. This allows you to optimize the interaction between the Kudu and other effects.
The Bite control also contributes to its versatility. By affecting presence and treble, it allows you to switch from a smooth, deep overdrive to a more direct, punchy, and bright distortion. Its effective interaction with the Drive parameter allows for precise adjustment of the tone’s character.
