Radial StageBug SB-4

The Radial StageBug SB-4 is a compact active DI box that has been optimized for use with piezoelectric transducers.This solution allows for better amplification of violins, dobros, mandolins, cellos, double basses, and other piezo instruments without compromising on sound or frequency response.The SB-4 features a jack input for instrumental miking. Unlike conventional D.I.'s that have an input impedance of 1 meg ohm, the SB-4 has an input impedance of 10 megaohms, which has the effect of smoothing out the annoying peaks that give piezos their bad reputation. The higher impedance also broadens the frequency response for a more natural and pleasant sound. The active circuitry performs the conversion from high to low impedance while balancing the signal. To help eliminate feedback, the SB-4 features a high-pass filter that reduces bass resonance and a 180-degree polarity inverter that allows for circumscribing the stage area - changing the phase relationship between the front panel and the room acoustics. An AUX connector offers the possibility to link to the amplifier in addition to the standard XLR output. The power supply comes from the 48V of the console, which eliminates the need for an external power supply.
