Realistic sounds to satisfy drummers
No compromises were made when it came to recording the sounds of the instruments themselves. The DTX PROX’s sounds have been refined to naturally follow the drummer’s playing and allow for maximum expression.

The acoustic drum sounds built into the DTX-PROX are all real sounds recorded in world-renowned recording studios. In addition to recording the direct sounds of the drums, the unique natural ambience of the studios where they were recorded was also sampled.

Performances by Yamaha’s leading drummers were recorded and mixed by a team of sound engineers to produce the final audio files. The project’s sound director, a professional in electronic musical instrument development, used rigorous recording techniques to capture the detailed sound of each drum and cymbal, from the initial attack to the very end of the natural decay.

The DTX pads—the drummer’s interface with the instrument—have been carefully matched to the DTX-PROX module to deliver excellent expressive capabilities.

Intuitive playability that inspires creativity
The kit modifier featured on the DTX-PROX offers drummers unlimited possibilities for creativity.

The KIT MODIFIER condenses all the sound-creation expertise Yamaha has accumulated over decades into three buttons: AMBIENCE, COMPRESSION, and EFFECT. Yamaha’s engineers provide a wide range of tonal possibilities—from the natural sound of acoustic drums to live performance sounds, including heavily effected sounds.

The AMBIENCE knob controls the natural ambience and reverb of the drum sound. For acoustic drum sounds, the AMBIENCE MODIFY knob controls the actual recorded natural ambience from 0 to 50%. When the setting exceeds 50%, high-quality digital reverb is also added to the sound.

The COMP and EFFECT knobs utilize the simplified “1-knob” control technology found in Yamaha’s Professional Audio products.

The COMP knob adds compression to the entire drum kit sound, ranging from subtle to pronounced, while the EFFECT knob controls the mix of the internal effects processors. The effects are fully adjustable and offer a wide range of available options.

Seven LED-backlit rotary faders can be used to adjust the parameters of all instruments. With the fader selection knob, you can choose your preferred option from six presets (with 14 sub-presets) and control it intuitively using the LED-backlit rotary faders.

In addition, the LED rotary faders can be used to control connected external MIDI devices and DAW software, both in the studio and live.

Optimal Feel
The DTX10 series allows drummers to choose between two types of drumheads based on their personal preference, for optimal response while playing.

Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) heads feature a unique internal structure that delivers a realistic response with authentic stiffness and rebound, as well as a treated surface that prevents the sticks from slipping. The result is a natural drumming feel that encourages you to keep playing.

The snare drum and toms offer a feel very close to that of their respective acoustic counterparts. Their surfaces will never lose their tension, no matter how many times they are struck, ensuring the best possible feel at all times.

The snare pad is also equipped with a strike-point detection feature, which further enhances your ability to express yourself musically.

The mesh heads feature a two-ply construction and are manufactured by Remo. They offer exceptional noise reduction, durability, and playing feel, as well as excellent rebound, making them very comfortable to play. The heads can be adjusted to suit your personal preferences. The snare pad is equipped with three sensors that respond precisely to the subtle movements of the drumsticks.

"Easy to Play"
Reproducing the behavior of an acoustic drum set when struck is a key factor in the playability of electronic drum sets. Our electronic drum sets feature a sound module that captures and reproduces the full range of sounds, from the initial attack to the final decay, all based on samples of authentic drum kits tuned by qualified engineers and drummers. Yamaha conducted an in-depth study of how drums respond when struck and used this information to achieve a truly faithful representation of drum behavior. In addition, professional drummers from around the world evaluated the DTX-PROX’s performance, enabling Yamaha to further enhance its expressive capabilities. Yamaha’s expertise as a musical instrument manufacturer has enabled us to offer expert-designed combinations of modules and pads that deliver excellent playability.

Original TCS Pads
Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) drumheads use a silicone foam material containing numerous air bubbles, providing firmness and precise rebound. The air bubbles inside act as a cushion, softening the impact sound and reducing strain on the wrists and elbows. The surface of the pad is identical to that of a “coated” pad and prevents the sticks from slipping.

Live Set Function for Instantly Recalling Settings
The DTX-PROX is equipped with a “Live Set” function that allows you to freely arrange and define various kit combinations, tempos, and audio files or backing tracks, and recall them with a single touch—making it particularly useful for live venues or live broadcast events. It also supports various configurations, including the Wav & Click Sync feature, which adds click track parameters to audio files and synchronizes playback with them, adds a pre-count, and stops the click after a preset time.

Connect via Bluetooth and record your performances to a USB flash drive
The DTX-PROX’s Bluetooth feature lets you connect wirelessly to smart devices, portable music players, and computers, so you can enjoy playing the drums along with the audio. In addition, the USB memory can be used to record audio not only from devices connected via Bluetooth, but also from devices connected via AUX or USB cables. You can also record your own drum performances over the songs currently playing.

"Professional-Grade Headphone Amplifier"
Yamaha recognized that it is incredibly important for drummers to be able to hear themselves clearly, which is why the DTX-PRO module is equipped with a high-precision, low-distortion, low-noise, high-power headphone amplifier. This circuit delivers high-fidelity sound directly to the player; it was developed exclusively for electronic drums and immerses the player in realistic drum sounds.

Connections for Every Possible Application
The DTX-PROX is equipped with 8 INDIVIDUAL OUTPUTS and a matrix that allows routing to any output. The two AUX IN jacks are ideal for receiving the monitor signal from a PA system, connecting to other musical instruments (standard jack—rear panel), and connecting to smart devices (mini jack—front panel). The headphone jack features both a standard jack and a mini-jack, allowing for highly flexible routing—such as routing click tracks and AUX IN audio exclusively to the headphones.

The DTX PROX can be connected directly to a computer or smart device via USB to send and receive audio and MIDI data.

The practice features found in previous DTX models are also included in the DTX-PROX. In addition to the sophisticated programmable metronome, the module offers a full-featured recording function, 10 training functions that are ideal for drummers of all skill levels, and 37 practice songs that let you learn different styles. Both beginners and professionals will find the DTX-PRO’s training features to be a useful aid for daily practice.

Cubase AI Included
The DTX-PRO module comes with a download code for the latest version of “Cubase AI,” the most popular music production software.

By connecting the DTX-PRO to your computer via a USB cable, all recording, editing, and mixing tasks involved in modern music production can be handled using a single software application.
